Being Healthy Is Not An Activity

Putting It To The Test

Losing weight, getting healthy and fit are great in and of themselves. I feel great, I feel healthy, but I wasn’t sure how to find out how well my fitness has improved. If I took some sort of fitness test, I would be a baseline of where I am at now and wouldn’t give me

They’re Missing the Boat

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed several commercials from leading athletic performance companies (Nike, Under Armour, Reebok, Adidas etc) that all target the same market. All of these companies are targeting the in-shape, fit athletes. And, to be honest, it makes sense. They manufacture performance apparel, they are endorsed by professional athletes, and they

Sharing The Wealth

When I embarked on my weight loss journey, I knew nothing about losing weight. I knew nothing of how he body uses food. I knew nothing about exercise. I knew nothing! The good news is that there are hundreds (and probably thousands) of people out there willing to share their knowledge. They share in the

Setbacks Will Happen

When I started out on my weight loss journey, I had visions of grandeur. I thought that if I ate a healthy diet and went to the gym, then everything was going to be great and the pounds would melt off in no time. Well, everyone knows that isn’t the case or everyone would be

Here We Go

I am very happy the holidays are over. I loved em, but glad to see em go! I made it through Thanksgiving relatively unscathed, but Christmas kicked my ass in regards to weight loss. I let me best intentions go by the way side while I indulged in my old habits of eating and drinking

Taking Time To Rest

I’ve been under the weather a bit for the last few days and really haven’t had the motivation or energy to get to the gym. I did go once this week and I had no desire to be there. My workout suffered because of that. So I’ve taken the last few days to rest and

Tools of the Trade

I’ve been on my weight loss journey for just about 8 months now. I’ve lost 40 pounds in those 8 months; not as much as I would like (obviously) but I still consider it a great achievement. I still have 14 pounds to go to hit my short term goal and about another 29 pounds

Why I Want To Lose Weight

I am an active member of a weight loss forum, and I say a topic posted today asking people why they want to lose weight. The obvious reason is to be healthy, but that begs the question “Why do you want to be healthy”. It took me a minute, but I have a litany of

I Saw Myself

Outside of the building where I work sits a food truck. Its there every single day about lunch time and the line to order from this truck is consistently about 12 people long. This isn’t an ordinary lunch truck, its a gourmet cupcake truck. As I went outside today to take a walk for exercise,
